Consumer information

We would like to inform you that the Czech Bar Association (www.cak.cz) has been authorized to carry out out-of-court settlements of consumer disputes between attorney and consumer (pursuant to Act no. 634/1992 Coll., On Consumer Protection, as amended) arisen under contracts for provision of legal services and as such it is a competent institution for out-of-court settlement of these kind of disputes.

Legal services are provided for remuneration, whereas the attorney is entitled to request from the client advance payment of a reasonable advance. The amount of the remuneration is governed by a contract on provision of legal services concluded with the client. The remuneration for legal services can be agreed as a time-based remuneration (i.e. determined by the number of hours started or other time units spent over provision of legal service), as a fixed remuneration (i.e. fixed remuneration for provision of a comprehensive legal service) or as a contingent fee or can be determined by a combination of the above methods. If the attorney's remuneration is not determined by a contract on provision of legal services, it is governed by the relevant provisions of the Decree of the Ministry of Justice no. 177/1996 Coll., Attorney's tariff, as amended. In addition to the remuneration, the attorney is entitled to reimbursement of cash expenses and compensation for missed time.
